Should I hire a trainer?
Should you hire a personal trainer? A very tough question and may not be the same answer for everyone. I think there are lots of people out there that would benefit from having a personal trainer, I know I personally have benefited from hiring a show prep coach. Yes I know I am a personal trainer so why do I need a trainer? For me personally there are a few things a trainer has brought to the table for me. 1. Accountability- yes I try my hardest to stay true to my own personal fitness goals and commitments but everyone has their days of weakness and you need someone or something to fall back on and give you strength. The fact that I know my trainer is going to look at me at least once a week without my shirt on, that he is going to ask me my weight, motivates the heck out of me.
#2-Takes the stress out of it-Especially for show prep. I have second guessed myself on many occasions whether what I was doing was right or not. I over analyze everything and though something may be working I might talk myself out of it. With my trainer it has taken the second guessing myself out of the picture. I am given a plan and I follow it with exactness.
#3-Break up the routine-Its great because my trainer and often other trainers will look at your weak spots and create a workout plan that helps you focus on their weak points. Its always fun to start a new program and see where I end up at the end of my show prep.
#4-Learn something new- I don't care who you are, there is always something you can learn and take away from someone else. For example I was working legs one day and completing a leg curl. An exercise I have done many of times. One of my friends walks by and says that I need to relax my feet and not curl them up, that I am taking away from the movement and taking the tension off my hamstrings. Sure enough changing that one little thing helped the exercise be that much more effective.
If your not happy with the results you have gotten and you want to take things to the next level, you might consider hiring a trainer. I know I have been able to reach new fitness goals using my trainer Big Jon at Bigjonfitness.com
