How to indulge over Labor Day weekend and still lose weight
The final Holiday of the summer is finally upon us and we should all be thinking about how we can stay on track with our fitness goals while enjoying some free time. A lot of people tend to use the Holidays as "free" days where they excuse all dietary restrictions and usually end up with an all out binge. Unfortunately, food now is just simply too dense in calories to allow for an entire free day. I have seen people ruin an entire week of hard work on one free day and I want to make sure this doesn't happen to you this weekend.
1) Plan ahead. This sounds so simple yet, many don't plan ahead of time to set up for success. If you know you will be in a place with unhealthy food options, plan ahead to bring some options of your own so that you are absolutely sure of what you are taking in.
2) Stay hydrated. For many, the Labor Day weekend will be spent outside and will include alcoholic beverages which can both rob your body of hydration. Make sure that you are alternating a water for every alcoholic beverage that you consume. Staying hydrated will also keep your appetite at bay as your stomach with be full of water.
3) Log your food. Yes, even on the Holiday you are still supposed to log what you are eating. Trust me, it is worth it to spend a little time searching for the foods you are eating rather than have to chip away at added unwanted pounds the next week.
4) Stay active. Even if you aren't going to the gym for your normal routine, a hike, bike ride, or short jog can go a long way in keeping your metabolism boosted throughout the day.
In summary, you should be able to enjoy the Holiday without setting your fitness goals back. Follow these 4 steps this weekend and enjoy your last hoo-rah of the season!
