ORGANICALLY GROWN

CBD has risen to popularity, leading to a majority of beneficial products to choose from. Today’s market ranges from a variety of therapeutic tinctures to topicals and edibles.

Let's get to know it a little better.

WHAT IS CBD?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a naturally occurring compound found in the resinous flower of cannabis, a plant with a rich history as a medicine going back thousands of years.

CBD is one of the more than 85-100 cannabinoids found in hemp. While CBD is an essential component of medical marijuana, it is derived directly from the hemp plant, which is a cousin of the marijuana plant but it is not what causes a "high".

That’s because CBD and THC act in different ways on different receptors in the brain and body.

HEMP V.S. MARIJUANA

Hemp and marijuana are commonly mistaken for one another. However, they are completely different plants. Although hemp and marijuana are both varieties of cannabis, the main difference between the two is something you cannot see with the naked eye – it's their chemical compound.

Both CBD and THC have the exact same molecular structure: 21 carbon atoms, 30 hydrogen atoms, and 2 oxygen atoms. A slight difference in how the atoms are arranged accounts for the differing effects on your body. Both CBD and THC are chemically similar to your body’s endocannabinoids. This allows them to interact with your cannabinoid receptors.

HOW DOES IT INTERACT WITH OUR BODIES?

Our bodies balance rely in two important systems: The Endocannabinoid System and Homeostasis.
Think about it this way: When our bodies are cold, we shiver and when we are hot, we sweat. This is our bodies natural response to keep it at a balance. The state is called "Homeostasis", and it is the requirement of our bodies to keep a state of equilibrium.

Our bodies also produce endocannabinoids, which are neurotransmitters that bind to cannabinoid receptors in the nervous system. The human Endocannabinoid System (ECS) is a network of receptors that spread throughout our entire body that impacts homeostasis, keeping the maintenance of a stable internal environment.

The ECS is responsible for regulating and balancing many processes in the body, including immune response, communication between cells, appetite and metabolism, memory, and more. It is through this system of receptors and metabolic enzymes that cannabinoids interact with the human body and trigger beneficial effects.
